Plitvice Lakes is the oldest and largest national park in Croatia. In 1979 it was registered in UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is situated on the upper reaches of the Korana River between the mountain limestone massifs Velika and Mala Kapela and Pleševica between Karlovac and Zadar near the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This national park has a lot of forest, herbs, and plants but the most popular is the lakes system which is consists of 16 named and several smaller unnamed lakes that cascade into each other.

If you want to relax, stroll around the park and see these beautifully clear lakes and untouched nature with green grass and forests, you have a unique chance at any time of the year, because this national park is open to visitors during all year.

Another big point of interest, a very famous film Vinnetou was made here.
