Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine

This is the 42 Mpx landscape photo of Chernobyl nuclear power plant with a cooling pond located near the city of Pripyat, Ukraine.

In 1986, the 4th reactor exploded in the power plant and leakage radiation was thrown into whole Europe. To prevent further leakage, a special sarcophagus was built, you can see it on the left side of this image.

Seeing the consequences of Chernobyl disaster attract lots of tourists every year. There are many interesting places to take pictures. Some of them can literally radiate radioactivity, but only for a short time (it is safe for you).

Based on this event, the very high rated series Chernobyl was shot.
