Chiemsee sunset

The picture shows the Chiemsee, a beautiful lake in Bavaria, south of Germany. It is the biggest lake in this area, therefore it is sometimes called "the Bavarian Sea". It is a favorite holiday destination for Bavarians.

In summer, you can hire a small electric ship or you can go on a ship voyage on the lake and visit one of its islands, Herreninsel, Frauenchiemsee or Krautinsel, so-called "Cabbage Island".

The lake is especially beautiful during sunset. People can sit on the wooden piers, admire the setting sun mirroring on the lake surface and swans or ducks sometimes come to visit them.
